Descrizione

Amazônia Onlus directly supports the Amazon populations in the fight against the deforestation, while improving the natives’ quality of life and ensuring that they have real alternatives for sustainable economic development.

Our projects are creating new opportunities for income generation for indigenous men and women, through local crafts, marketing of non timber forest products, community-owned ecotourism, and scientific research.

These opportunities have also drawn in people from the neighbouring areas, reversing the prevailing trend of migration to city slums.

The Amazon tropical rainforest is one of the most imperilled ecosystems on earth. Its survival depends on the people who inhabit it.

Amazônia Onlus supports the Amazon natives in the fight against the deforestation and for the conservation of the rainforest and its biodiversity.

Since 2004, the nonprofit organization has worked to ensure education, health and sustainable development of the indigenous communities.

In Brazil, Amazônia Onlus has carried out several projects for environmental conservation and social and humanitarian interventions, improving the quality of life of the Caboclo population and helping to protect approximately 200 thousand hectares of tropical forest.

In Europe, the organization carries out activities to raise awareness on environmental, biological and cultural diversity issues, as well as fundraising activities and events about the environment.

The Amazon is vital to the future of the planet.
We believe that it is not necessary to destroy the forest in the name of economy because a new form of development is actually possible through the responsible use of our natural resources.
